Lupe only uses the word 'we' three times in this verse. Once in the first line. once at the halfway point and also in the last line: "cause he want what we got like yeah" where we can also be heard as "oui" like yeah. +References to ratatouille and patisserie Maybe there's more french references that I'm missing but I definitely think this thread (or yarn) is there. This is the greatest lyrical display ever in all hip hop from the rhyme schemes to the lyrical schemes to the entendres. The bars just dont stop coming.

I have been trying to decipher these lyrics since this came out!!! I caught some things but this song is even deeper than I would’ve guessed! I also have my own interpretations as well, like the deceit of Poseidon apologizing and inviting the slaves to live in the ocean, knowing they’d die… almost like a deal with the devil, but that’s my own take and it is absolutely disgusting that there was a slave ship called “Jesus.” Such a slap in the face because slave owners would convince the slaves that the Bible condoned slavery when it did not but the slaves could not read or understand the language of the time so they wouldn’t have known better. Disgusting and disgraceful!!! And now look at how the Bible has been wrongly interpreted. That’s why it’s so important to read it and understand where locations of events happened within the Bible… mostly Africa and the Middle East. Europeans weren’t even mentioned until the disciples started traveling to spread the gospel and met up with people in different regions to build the Church of Antioch which was in Greece, but with the Greeks, also was a Black man named Simeon who was a part of starting the church or Antioch. All of this is in the very Bibles we have access to today. Don’t let them erase the truth

Then he finishes this part by saying these artists will cling to the facade of having an industry-planted fanbase when they look in the mirror, as the last fan they'll have left is themselves. Lupe being factual about their inability to face this fact is why he's relating himself to the mirror as he is upfront about it. Idk if he meant to say "reflectious" bc when you replace it with "reflecting" or "a reflection of" the bar makes more sense.
